Beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I exhort you that you would make it a daily habit to worship God in song. Forget not that we are at battle, not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
When we take the time in our day to dedicate praise to God, He is faithful in renewing our strength, giving our soul rest from the tolls of the day, and power in the Holy Spirit.
When it seems like everyone and everything just seems to be against you and not for you, break out in song and worship the Most High. When you are struggling with negative thoughts that want to hold you captive, break out in song and sing praise to God. When you feel confused and you just can’t seem to advance in what God’s called you to, break out in song and worship God with praises that reach Heaven. When there is sin in your life that you just don’t seem to be able to overcome or have victory, go to God in prayer when that temptation to fall comes, and sing praise to Him, if you don’t know what to sing, go to the book of Psalms and begin to sing the prayers of David. You can also make up your own song prayer to God about the temptation that you are under, sing to Him what’s going on in your heart, and in your mind, be honest God knows your heart already so don’t hold back, tell Him what you are feeling and He might even reveal to you something about your heart you did not already know and victory will come.
We must not underestimate the power of praise and worship towards God we were created to worship and if we don’t direct that toward God we will fall into worshipping something else that will turn us away from God and lead us down a deeper mess than we are already in when we don’t go to Him in worship.
At first perhaps your heart isn’t there, you are singing but you feel empty, continue to sing unto God, if you don’t feel it listen to the words of truth you are singing and let it kindle your spirit and soul and ask Him to place a fire within you to worship Him not only with your lips but with your whole heart and He will answer your prayer.
Scripture on Worship:
Psalm 95:6 ESV “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!”
John 4:23 ESV “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.”
Colossians 3:14-17 ESV “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Isaiah 12:5 ESV “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.”
Hebrews 12:28 ESV “Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,”
Psalm 95:1-6 ESV “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. …”
I pray that this encourages someone who’s been having a tough time lately and perhaps has forgotten about the power of worshipping God and singing praise to God. When spiritual warfare comes, and it will praise the Highest in song, for His is the battle and the victory is won.
We daily face battles that at times seem larger than we can overcome on our own, but the Father gives us strength and rest in that He takes the battle onto Himself, and not only goes out to battle for us, but tells us that the victory is already won, and as He fights the battle for us, He calls us to come to the front lines of the battle and sing thanksgiving unto God, praise and worship to the Most High, because He overcomes, and through Jesus Christ, anything that we face on this earth Jesus has already overcome and given us rest in this assurance in Him.
Be encouraged by these scriptures:
2 Chronicles 20:15 “Hearken, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, “Fear not, and be not dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours but God’s” . . . You will not need to fight in this battle; take your position, stand still, and see the victory of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Fear not, and be not dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.”
2 Chronicles 20:18: “Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.”
2 Chronicles 20:21: “And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy array, as they went before the army, and say, ‘Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures for ever.’”
To the only wise God, our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
