Subtil Serpent: The Battle is Real

Beloved of God, Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort where with we ourselves are comforted by God. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. …as you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you be also of the consolation. [2 Corinthians 1:3-7].

First, I’d like to give a bit of caution to my brothers and sisters in the faith. I have learned my lesson that when the Lord places something in your heart/mind, be it a conviction, a command to obey, a ministry; the enemy has a plan against it, and so, because I am weak to the enemies subtil ways apart from God, I am prone to fall, if I don’t continue leaning on God, His understanding and wisdom, even while seeking to accomplish/fulfill what the Lord has called me to, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and His grace. And where does that begin: leaning on God and His understanding, apart from my own, and His wisdom, in prayer without ceasing, and meditating on His Word.

Recently, the Lord had convicted me to obey Him in doing something that was apart of an answer prayer, mending relationships, I had been praying for that He’d open the door [with the main focus, purpose that I may begin to minister unto them], and so He did, God also called me to die to self in this conviction and I was overjoyed to hear from the Lord and obey Him as He has been working mightily in me these couple of days, purging out anything unpleasing to Him. As the weekend was coming to an end, I wanted to be obedient in doing what God told me to and not let the weekend end without doing so, and so when I found the opportunity to go ahead, I forgot one important, crucial things to do before taking up the task, pray.

WHO WE WRESTLE AGAINST:

Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

THE FULL ARMOUR OF GOD:
Ephesians 6:13-20 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

As I went to do what God had commanded, basically I was headed towards a spiritual battle, because anything that God commands us to do, the enemy has plans against it to destroy it or make it of none effect. Especially when we seek relationships with others we hope to minister to, the enemy hates it. REMEMBER, everything that God calls us to do is suppose to be done in Spirit, by His grace, and by faith, without these, we work in vain and please not the Father. Overjoyed that I was headed to do what God commanded, just when I thought that things were headed in the right direction, the enemy got a hold of my mind and heart through another person and by attacking and I in the flesh took it as offense and forgot what the Lord said “we wrestle not against flesh and blood”. By the grace of God, the Lord quickly got a hold of my heart and what was going on and I laid down by the grace of God my earthly weapons of defense and surrendered and let God take control, and things turned around, by God’s grace.

From this experience that I share with you, brothers and sisters, God has opened my eyes to a couple things I’d like to share with you guys and exhort you to seek the Lord in these things.

[1] I believe the enemy is getting craftier in the way that he is trying to lead us astray from the task God has called us to, in knowing Him and making Him known. Even to the point of using our closest loved ones against us. One question? When our Lord Jesus was accused did He once rise up to defend Himself? [pray on that and seek God’s word]

I recently experienced someone say something that was untrue and when something like that happens your first instinct is to defend yourself, but as I saw this wasn’t working, the Lord sort of convicted me that this wasn’t going to work and that I had to simply take it and be firm in the Lord to the point that when lies are spoken about you even when it’s someone close to you, even after you have made your case to defend yourself, to clear your name; you are not moved but remain still in Christ to take care of it.

We do not seek the approval of the world, only Christ.

In this experience I began to think perhaps God is showing me a glimpse of what it would be like if everyone turns against you; when you follow Jesus, perhaps they will not say I am doing this because you follow Jesus, but because they do not follow Christ, the spirit of this world that works inside them, is already against us, and so, will seek to attack us through the sins of others, that we may not reach them for Christ, and that our mission fail, and discouragement begin to build inside us.

[If you have heard of Elizabeth Elliot, her husband went to preach the gospel to a tribe and they killed him. She at first didn’t want to go, but God worked in her to go to the tribe that killed her husband and tell them about Christ.]

It hurts to see someone lie about you, but if that hurts, what will it be like if the whole entire world lied about you because you seek to speak God’s truth, and they literally speak false witness against you. Will you endure? Will you overcome? I am not the only one being tested by God, going through trials that test our faith that we must endure these things He is trying us through, even when it hurts, because I believe this is nothing compared to what is to come. [pray about these things seek God in prayer]

[2] Another lesson God has taught me through this is , never seek to do something God has laid in your heart with the discernment of the Spirit, without prayer first that the enemy does not sidetrack you into falling into his manipulation, and to meditate on scripture, putting on the full armour of God; all these things will protect us from what comes against what God is working in us and through us.

[3] I know this one is hard, but God has been working in my heart on this, and I exhort you to seek the Lord yourself if this is something you need the Lord to work in you, and that is, do not get offended when someone gives a false witness about you, especially when you are doing the work of God, gently you can deny the false accusations, but if they continue without a softened heart that they might be at fault, most likely, their is a spirit working against you in them. Also, remember we are all fallen creatures, and especially the lost, are more than prone to making mistakes, its just apart of our nature, we all should seek to humble ourselves and not think we are above making a mistake. Pray and seek the Lord about this. Remain humble and meek; gentle and with a quiet spirit, be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.(keep the peace). I watched a great sermon by Zac Poonen, on allowing God to break us. He speaks a lot about the spirit of getting offended, to seek to put a stop to it by God’s grace that we may remain still in Christ and not be moved. We don’t seek mans approval but God alone, and so we must not get offended by man, we haven’t been called to that, if we get offended at everything others say we will not be able to continue on the task God has called us to, because we are trying to defend ourselves to a human being. [seek the Lord in prayer]

[4] Just as Jesus was given a false witness against; in this, when this happens against us, we get to share in what Christ had to go through and this only brings us closer to Him, in knowing Him and sharing in His suffering. Remain still and firm in Christ Jesus. I believe when we experience this, God is giving us also a chance, a glimpse, sort of like bootcamp, to prepare and learn how to respond, because this is only the beginning. Pray for your enemies and bless those who curse you.

The closer God draws us towards Him the more the world will come against us and oppose us.

We, who are in Christ, must be firmly rooted in Christ, walking side by side with Him; leaning on His understanding for the devil is out to devour, for his time is short and he knows it. He wants to slow down ministries God has called, and I know he will come at us full force but just like that God is strengthening His children, to lean on His strength and His power; to be fully and deeply dependent upon Him; and leave the flesh to die/ lean not on the flesh and do not listen to it’s deceptive ways that lead to destruction. Praise God, He is at the door and be prepared in Christ for persecution is coming.

The Lord is good, even in the enemies attempt to rise us up in pride; the Lord opens our eyes to the serpents craftiness and to the reality that he will try to do this again; especially in ministry, and ministering to other to win them over to Christ; and in our walk with God. God wants us to remain: broken (poor in spirit), humble, and meek. Praise be to the Most High God.

BE bold and courageous in seeking to minister to many to come to Christ, but do not be fooled, the enemy has plans against any attempt you have to speak the gospel to anyone. So be prepared, put on the full armour of God and stay awake and pray. As you seek to break down walls and strongholds, remember this is a way that the enemy works trying to divide and bring discord that walls may be built in the spirit between one another that no one ever speak of Christ to each other, especially to those who are already lost, so you being saved, be vigilant, with eyes open don’t let him deceive you. Put your weapons down and fight with the armour God has given you to protect yourself and to fight with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God and to pray in all occasions.

[[IF THE DEVIL WON’T STOP YOU FROM SEEKING GOD’S WORK, THE MINISTRY, HE WILL TRY TO MAKE YOUR MINISTRY WATERED DOWN OR OF NONE EFFECT, SOME TRUTH AND SOME LIES; CAUSING MORE DAMAGE TO THE KINGDOM THEN IF YOU HAD NEVER STARTED TO BEGIN WITH. DON’T THINK THAT ONCE YOU STOP FALLING INTO THOSE TEMPTATIONS OF PAST SEASONS, THE ENEMY HAS LEFT YOU FOR GOOD, THE MORE YOU DRAW CLOSER TO GOD, THE CRAFTIER he GETS.

STAY VIGILANT. STAY AWAKE AND PRAY.

he IS OUT TO DESTROY YOU, TO STEAL ALL YOU HAVE, AND TO KILL YOU. DON’T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY BROTHERS AND SISTERS,

THIS BATTLE IS MORE REAL THEN ANY WAR WE HAVE WITNESSED ON THIS EARTH,

BUT DON’T TAKE LIGHTLY THE POWER OF THE ALMIGHTY, ALPHA AND OMEGA, WHO CALLS YOU SONS AND DAUGHTER AND SAYS NO ONE WILL LAY A HAND ON YOU THAT I AM NOT SOVEREIGN OVER;

AND ALL THINGS WORK FOR GOOD FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE. ROMANS 8:28

I pray brothers and sisters that this may encourage you that as the battle gets tougher the Lord continues to strengthen us and draw us closer to Him, in deep dependence upon Him alone, closer fellowship, rejoice that He is at the door and He alone has overcome the world and only in Christ can we overcome the world and it’s ways.

To the only wise God, our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
